Antarctica: Drilling Campaign Reaches more than 1.2-Million-Year-Old Ice

The fourth Antarctic campaign of the “Beyond EPICA - Oldest Ice” project, funded by the European Commission, has achieved a historic milestone for climate science. An international team of scientists successfully drilled a 2,800-meter-long ice core, reaching the bedrock beneath the Antarctic ice sheet.

The Inauguration of the 2024/2025 Academic Year at Ca' Foscari will take place on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, starting at 11.00 a.m. in the Auditorium Santa Margherita – Emanuele Severino. Professor Marcello Pelillo will deliver a Lectio Magistralis titled From Leibniz's Dream to Turing's Game: The Origins of Artificial Intelligence.

Georgetown University in Washington recently welcomed Ca' Foscari graduate Luca Barison, who is now a PhD student in environmental history. Barison’s academic journey combines a love for history with a focus on environmental issues, culminating in notable accomplishments, such as the Giuseppe Del Torre Prize.
